Temporary “Destination Ontario” kiosks in the Toronto airport will be part of a new welcome initiative for international students.
The kiosks are designed to help students find transportation, accommodation, and other services in Ontario. Open between 7am and 11pm from August 12 to September 8, the kiosks will be placed near the exit of Customs and Immigration at the Arrivals level to greet students as they arrive. Each student who visits will receive a welcome package and help with orientation. On Monday, August 12, representatives from the program will be on site to give a talk about the new services.
The initiative, funded collectively by 15 colleges, 4 universities, and 6 municipalities, replaces an older initative set in place by the City of Toronto. Designed to help retain students in the province, the Destination Ontario program will also help boost the city’s profile as a sought-after destination for those looking to study abroad. The kiosks will also be open again between mid-December and late January to welcome spring students.
