A Canada Day Kick-Off Party hosted by Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario has international students preparing to celebrate Canada Day in the area.
The event’s focus was to show international students how Canadians celebrate our national holiday, which falls on Monday, July 1. Speaking to CBC News, international student Jeenu Jose said, "I miss home a bit, but not as much as I expected. The city is so welcoming ... and the people are so loving.”
Canada Day celebrations at the Sudbury Arena are organized by the Sudbury Multicultural and Folk Art Association, and usually draws between 5,000 and 6,000 people. A parade from Sudbury City Hall to the arena will kick off the event, which will feature entertainment and more than a dozen food vendors. Fundraising from Immigration Canada means they will be able to offer the event free of charge.
