“Open work permit” title changes as of January 12th, 2022

An open work permit gives a person the ability to work for any employer over the course of a specific period of time.

The open work permit and its instructions have been modified for the purpose of clarity.

The title “Open work permit” is now called “Open work permit – General processing and issuance”, which more accurately reflects the instructions. The instructions now clearly state that the open work permit holder fee cannot be charged for open work permits which have been issued under section 25.2 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.

The instruction formatting has also been changed for further clarity and to make it easier to locate.
