Hawkesbury is a city of 10,194 located in Eastern Ontario, situated approximately 100 km distance between the cities of Ottawa and Montreal. Residents lead a quasi-rural lifestyle, enjoying easy access to large urban centres. This rural Ontario town has a large Francophone majority and bilingual population. Every service offered in the city and region is available in both French and English, which helps the social, cultural and community integration of French-speaking immigrants.

Over 85% of the French population uses French in the workplace and all health services in the town are available in French.
