One in Four Canadians Immigrants

We are increasingly a nation of immigrants, according to recent statistics

Canadian census numbers show that 1 in 4 Canadians arrived here as landed immigrants or permanent residents of Canada. Immigration policies continue to recruit record numbers of new immigrants. As a result, almost 100% of labour and 100% of the Canadian population will be attributed to Immigration by 2032. That is good timing because the worker-to-retiree ratio could reach 2 to 1 by 2035.

Next year, Canada plans to welcome 465,000 new immigrants; in 2025, 500,000 will arrive to call Canada home. The Immigration and Refugee Protection Act receives those fleeing conflict and climate, making our country a haven for the vulnerable of the world, and a landing place to highly skilled workers.

As we share the wealth of incoming human capital across Canada, Canadian Government policies encourage settlement in every region with active incentives towards life in rural communities with regional programs aimed towards providing skilled workers for local job vacancies through the Provincial Nominee Program, the Atlantic Immigration Program, and the Rural and Northern Immigration Pilot program. Immigration will remain weighted towards skilled workers as people stream in, with Economic class admissions accounting for 60% of new entries by 2025.
