New Funding Partner Organizations Added to Expand Canada’s Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP)

Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, announces new funding partner organizations to help expand Canada’s Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot (EMPP).

Launched in 2018, The EMPP Pilot aims to partner with Canadian communities and employers to expand its welcome of skilled refugees to 2,000 persons. Since October of 2022,100 skilled refugees and their family members have already received invitations to work in Canada and enjoy expanding permanent resident pathways. The additions fill critical roles such as nurse aide, personal support worker, culinary experts, and tradespeople in arenas like health care, skilled trades and information technology where Canadian employers require skilled labourers.

The IRCC hopes to gain future program insights from the pilot while forging valuable partnerships with organizations supporting refugee immigration and employment.

The new partners of the expanded project include Talent Beyond Boundaries, TalentLift and Jumpstart Refugee Talent. With these partners, candidates can apply to immigrate to Canada with jobs in place, easing refugee feelings of displacement by giving refugees access to economic programs already in place.

According to the 2021 Global Trends Report from the United Nations Refugee Agency, Canada ranks highest in bringing refugees into our country, with 20,400 refugees arriving to safety in 2021.
