National Francophone Immigration Week Starts Today

Salut, Francophone immigrants, Francophones, and lovers of poutine and all that is French (Canadian), this week marks the tenth Annual Francophone Immigration Week.

From cultural evenings shaped around Francophone life and art to debates around coffee or even learning how to cook famous French cuisine with cooking workshops, you are invited to join in on the hundreds of activities and cultural events across the country.

“This year’s theme—the thousand flavours of La Francophonie—is a reminder of the richness of the many cultural flavours and traditions that French-speaking newcomers bring to this country . . . I invite everyone to celebrate this country’s tradition of diversity and inclusion and the many ways Francophone immigration benefits Canada.” Says the Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship.

National Francophone Immigration Week is part of a Canadian Initiative to bring New French Speaking immigrants to Canada, and  14 communities of Canada are leading with active recruitment of new Francophone immigrants to their cities.

For those of you practising Convivencia from home, Quebec City officials have prepared 9 French Canadian Specialty meals.
