Budget 2023 Brought New Grocery Rebate for Canadians

The Government of Canada is implementing a new grocery rebate to help Canadians cope with high food costs.

The Budget 2023 will include a new Grocery Rebate that will provide 11 million low-and modest-income Canadians and families with the targeted inflation relief. Under the grocery rebate, eligible couples along with their children may receive up to an additional $467 in financial support. Single Canadians without children may also be eligible for an additional $234 on average and seniors may expect to receive an average of $225.

Alongside the grocery rebate, the Government of Canada is also taking necessary steps to address the predatory lending practices, reduce the credit card transaction fees for small businesses and help Canadians become financially secure.

Budget 2023 is aiming to create a Canada which is more sustainable, secure, and affordable for Canadians while maintaining the lowest deficit and net debt-to-GDP ratio in the G7.
