Additional Travel Restrictions on exempt groups of IRCC Clients

Travel restrictions continue to be part of Canada’s effort to stop the spread of COVID-19.

This extends to those seeking permanent resident status and other statuses through the department of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).

Effective January 15th, 2022, Canada has changed travel restrictions on unvaccinated, previously exempt groups. Now, a smaller group of the IRCC’s clients will be considered exempt to the current requirement of being fully vaccinated to travel to Canada. This group includes newly admitted permanent residents, refugees, temporary foreign workers specifically working in agriculture or other food-processing occupations, asylum claimants, and certain minors. Those wishing to travel to Canada must be fully vaccinated or fall under the exempt classification.
