New opportunity for Canadian and Icelandic youth.
The Government of Canada continues to provide Canadian youth with opportunities to gain international experience and perspectives, as they play a crucial role in the global economy. Canada has recently signed a new youth mobility agreement with Iceland in Winnipeg on August 3rd, 2023. This new agreement will allow Canadian and Icelandic youth between the ages of 18 and 30 to travel and work in each other's countries through International Experience Canada (IEC) for up to 12 months, with the possibility of extending their stay by 12 months.
The governments of Canada and Iceland will implement the new arrangement in 2024 once all requirements have been met. It will enable 120 young people from each country annually to stay and work in Canada or Iceland for up to 24 months.
IEC is a reciprocal program that allows Canadian and international youth to work and travel in each other’s countries. There are three categories of participation under the program: Working Holiday, International Co-op and Young Professionals.
