Super visa refusal
By: Shoaib on Jun 06, 2023 04:52 AM EST
Hello. My daughter who resides in Canada had applied for a super visa for my wife and myself. The process was going smoothly (or so we thought). We received an email asking us to schedule an appointment for our medical assessment. we had just booked our appointment when i received an email saying that my application was rejected. The reason given was that I already had a PR. In the mid 70's my late father had applied for immigration and then by the late 70's he decided against it. During this time till 1997 we had visited Canada on several occasions without any issues. In 2006 we applied for a visit visa alongwith my late father. Our application was refused. We hired a lawyer who discovered that our PR status was still active. He advised us to renounce the application for PR and request a visit visa Then again we applied the following year. Refused again. Did'nt apply until recently when my daughter got married and moved there with her Husband. So it turns out that my PR is still active and i didn't even know that i had one, assuming that our applications were also renounced when my parents had renounced theirs. What shall i do? renounce and reapply for the super visa or pursue the Pr even though i have no intentions of living there permanently. Kindly advise.
