IM008- How many family members are included in this application?

Quick question re: Spousal sponsorship application IM008, question 3. How many family members, including you, are in this application?
My husband and I have two Canadian children, and I am Canadian.
If the sponsor is Canadian and their 2 dependent children are Canadian, would the primary applicant write 1 (for themselves because the other 3 are Canadian Citizens)? or 4 (because there are 4 people in the family- even though 3 are Canadian)?

you should count yourself and all family members who are part of the application — this includes your spouse or common-law partner and any dependent children, whether they are accompanying you to Canada or not. It’s the total number of people in your application for permanent residence, not just those who will arrive with you. To keep children engaged during the sometimes slow parts of preparing paperwork or waiting on processing, simple learning breaks can help — for example, using a rainbow printable coloring activity can be a fun way to mix creativity with a little calm focus.
