Get a Pomeranian
By: Clarissa on Dec 23, 2025 08:33 AM EST
As a child and teenager, I had a golden retriever (he was an absolute angel), and my mom and sister got a corgi in 2017, when I was 20. My fiancé's family has always had dogs, too, so we have some experience with dogs. We currently live in a city apartment, so I love Pomeranians for their looks and size. But what are their temperaments and grooming needs?

By nature, they are usually active and intelligent. Despite their small size, they have a "big dog" confidence—they can be bold, inquisitive, and even a little stubborn. They are well suited to apartment life, but they still need walks.

Pomeranians are ideal small dogs for a city apartment. They are very intelligent, active, and love attention, but can be quite vocal when bored. Their coat requires regular brushing, teeth and nail care, and overall, they require exceptionally gentle handling. If you have experience with dogs, a teacup pomeranian will make a loyal and lively companion. The key is to give them attention and care every day.
