Can I claim my NSNP PR without starting job?

By: amk on Jul 23, 2023 02:40 AM EST
I was nominated by my employer more than a year back on NSNP and got my work permit. My employer asked me to wait as they did not have work for the job offer I got my work permit for. They also applied for my and my family PR at that time. Now I have received our PR visas and CoPR documents, so we must land in Canada, Nova Scotia (PNP). My question is can we land in Nova Scotia, Canada as immigrants, to claim our PR cards and to enable our PR status? What documents are needed? Would I be asked about my job status? because they are still saying that they don't have work yet for the offer they applied us for.

Yes, you can land in Nova Scotia and activate your PR status even if you haven’t started the job yet, as long as you genuinely intend to reside in the province. Be honest at landing, bring your CoPR, Retro Bowl College job offer, and other key documents, and explain that your employer is still waiting to start the position.

It's understandable to feel uncertain in your situation. Landing in Nova Scotia to claim your PR status is usually fine, even if your employer doesn’t have immediate work for you. Bring all your PR documents, passports, and proof of funds

This is a tricky situation! Congratulations on getting your PR visas, though! Yes, you absolutely can and must land in Nova Scotia to activate your PR. Bring all your CoPR documents, passports, and anything else that proves your connection to Nova Scotia, like the original job offer letter (even though the job isn't currently available). They might ask about your employment status, but just be honest. Perhaps having documentation showing your willingness to work, even something related to your field or a new skill you're learning via Sprunki courses, could demonstrate your commitment to Nova Scotia. Good luck with your landing!
