Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has recently held a category-based draw for French speakers.
To prioritize linguistic diversity in the Immigration system, Canada invited 500 candidates with French language proficiency in a recent Express Entry draw held on September 27th, 2023, with a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) of 472. This draw was category-specific, targeting candidates with French language expertise, which means that all candidates selected in the draw were proficient in French, and attained a minimum score of 7 in all four language abilities, which is speaking, listening, writing, and reading.
This year, Canada introduced category-based draws, in which six new categories were established, focusing on high-demand occupations. Categories include, Healthcare occupations, Transport occupations, Trade occupations, Agriculture and agri-food and French speakers.
