Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has recently invited candidates in the first ever category-based Express Entry draw for agriculture and agri-food occupations.
On September 28th, 2023, Canada issued 600 invitations to apply (ITAs) in its first-ever category-based Express Entry draw for candidates with work experience in agriculture and agri-food occupations. Candidates required a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 354 for this draw.
According to IRCC, through category-based selection and the Agri-Food Pilot, Canada is working towards gathering top global talent and helping meet the need for agriculture and agri-food workers to support its economy. These category-based selection rounds will continue throughout the year, alongside general and program-specific invitation rounds.
Canada’s Agriculture and Agri-Food Minister, Lawrence MacAulay, says, “Our agriculture and agri-food sector is an important engine of economic growth and requires a skilled and reliable workforce to continue to feed our growing population. Canada’s Express Entry system is an important tool that attracts workers with the skills our world-class agricultural sector needs.”
