Canada invites candidates with strong French language skills.
On August 2, 2023, Canada held its latest French category-based Express Entry draw, inviting 800 candidates with strong French language abilities. The Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score cut-off was 435. To be eligible for a French draw, candidates need a minimum score of 7 in all language abilities: reading, speaking, listening, and writing.
This is the third French category-based draw. The previous French draw took place on July 12. In that draw, candidates required 375 CRS points to be invited.
The Canadian government has been making steady efforts to attract French-speaking immigrants to communities across Canada. Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) says “By prioritizing the invitation of French-speaking newcomers, Canada aims to support economic growth through Francophone immigration outside Quebec while recognizing this enriches and strengthens these communities.”
