Canada's International Work Experience Program received an Italian infusion today with the signing of a new Youth Mobility Agreement with Italy.

. Young Canadians can now pack their bags to experience professional work or holiday in Italy, and Italians can fly to Canada for a year of work and travel. The agreement invites youth between 18 and 35 to live, travel and work in Italy or Canada for up to two separate 12-month periods. The three streams of working holiday, International Co-op (work Internship), and young professional work permits offer youth valuable opportunities improve intercultural understanding while offering invaluable life experience and work opportunities.

In addition, international Co-op and Young professional work permits provide potentially life transforming professional work experience for young people. Canada and Italy already have a strong interaction and history of cultural exchange, with Canada supporting the most significant Italian population outside of Italy in the world. In addition, more than 1.5 million Canadians have direct relatives from Italy.

The program is already popular, attracting 200,000 Canadian participants since 2008. Thirty-six foreign countries and territories other than Italy participate in International Experience Programs, which are considered valuable for youth participants' personal and professional growth.
