Vancouver Conference Centre’s Immigration Career Fair

“Talk to strangers and start networking today.” Fernanda Reis speaks to a crowd from the 12:30 pm Speaker Session in the Vancouver Convention Center conference room.

. The unconventional advice resounded outside the room as conversation, and concrete Immigration support filled the atmosphere at Vancouver’s Canadian Immigration Fair.

Dozens of brightly decorated booths operated by dedicated professionals line the room - all dedicated to the success of new immigrants to Canada. Career-enhancing Canadian work experience was only one of the many rewarding highlights of this life-enhancing event all newcomers should consider attending.

The Immigrant Employment Council of BC was in attendance, looking for immigration talent needing Canadian work experience and willing to partner with mentors and employers. The Diverse City Booth from Surrey was also there, hosted by an alert HR specialist, Praneet Sandhu. Diverse City offers settlement coaching to assist newcomers to “pursue their goals and build the life they want in Canada”. “Most of our employees arrive to us as new immigrants and later find themselves doing amazing volunteer work to support their communities,” Sandhu tells our reporter.

Attendees at the event will arrive home feeling welcome and flooded with opportunities for growth, volunteering, education and career from organizations spanning WorkBC, which offers Employment Services like Personal Employment Planning to our DNA, offering 30 “Fundamentals” to drive extraordinary success to free tax clinics from the Canadian Revenue Agency. Vancouver’s Immigration Career Fair is a worthwhile time investment in the success of New Immigrants.
