Selection Tool Changes Planned for 2023 and the IRCC Would Like to Hear from you as Immigration Experts.

Canada has a chronic labour and skills shortage, and the current points-based selection system is about to receive an upgrade.

Express Entry programs are making changes to the selection tool process next year to keep Canada's Immigration System responsive and our economy on track.

"It is 'Unacceptable' that immigrant surgeons are working as taxi drivers," says Immigration and Refugee Minister Sean Fraser.

While how the "selection tools" will change is unclear, the system will adapt to address critical labour shortages in areas such as healthcare and construction. The current selection process system accepts Immigrant workers who tend to work below their education, skill levels and competence while Canadian employers continue to struggle to fill positions.

Now it’s your turn. As part of the yearly process of engagement, the IRCC recognises the insight gained from the dialogue around Immigration policy. As such, the IRCC would like to hear from you on the Issues and priorities important to you as immigration experts.

Invitations are now open to download, think about, and share your opinions by downloading the questionnaire (PDF, 570 KB). Send your answers to IRCC.COMMConsultations-ConsultationsCOMM.IRCC@cic.gc.ca.
