Record Number of International Students in Manitoba

International students are flocking to Manitoba in record numbers thanks to its PNP program.

In 2018, enrolment among international students increased by 17%, and 1,923 international graduates were nominated for permanent residency.

International students have a significant impact on Manitoba’s economy, contributing $400 million to its GDP, and rates of international student enrolment are expected to increase over the coming year.

Education and Training Minister Kelvin Goertzen announced 2019 to be the Year of International Education in Manitoba on March 1: “Our province is attracting record numbers of students thanks to high-quality educational institutions, affordable tuition, and the Provincial Nominee Program.”

The number of international graduates nominated was the highest in the PNP program’s history, likely due to the clear immigration pathways laid out by the nominee program.
