Immigrant candidates from these newly added professions can now apply under the Express Entry system.

Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, today announces the addition of sixteen new occupations to the National Occupation Classification (NOC) 2021.

The sixteen added occupations open to foreign nationals for express entry are

payroll administrators

dental assistants and dental laboratory assistants

nurse aides, orderlies, and patient service associates

pharmacy technical assistants and pharmacy assistants

elementary and secondary school teacher assistants

sheriffs and bailiffs

correctional service officers

by law enforcement and other regulatory officers

estheticians, electrologists and related occupations

residential and commercial installers and servicers

pest controllers and fumigators

other repairers and servicers

The move expands pathways to Permanent Residency Programs for Temporary Workers and International Students, bringing skilled international workers to Canada to fill vital labour shortages in high-demand sectors. Health care, construction, and transportation are at the forefront of introduced occupational additions.

Statistics Canada and Employment and Social Development Canada recommended the changes after a review of NOC, undertaken every ten years, to keep up with and reflect Canada’s evolving labour market needs.
