Express Entry Draw #117

Another Express Entry draw was held on May 15, inviting 500 candidates to apply through the Federal Skilled Trades program.

This draw marks a departure from the pattern of other draws so far this year that have not specified a program but have invited a greater number of candidates. The lowest Comprehensive Ranking System score was 332, a significant dip from the previous cut-off of 450. The tie-breaking rule also reached back to those who applied as early as August 29 last year, a few months earlier than the May 1 draw.

This marks the 10th draw of the year, with draws occurring regularly on a biweekly basis. Express Entry candidates are assigned a CRS score based on skills that might help them succeed economically in Canada, such as language skills and education. The program is a way for the IRCC to invite strong candidates to fast-track their citizenship applications. As of May 10, a total of 104,512 individuals were in the Express Entry pool.
