Chandigarh, New Delhi, Islamabad, and Manila a Major Source of new Immigration with $74.6 Million Investment in Immigration Announced.

Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, today announces a five-year Indo-Pacific Immigration Strategy to recruit and process Immigrant applications from Chandigarh,

New Delhi, Islamabad, and Manila.

The Immigration and recruitment initiative is part of Global Affairs Canada's goal to invest $2.3 billion towards the Indo-Pacific region within five years. The $74.6 million invested to Indo-Pacific immigration is just one segment of five interconnected strategic objectives for the region.

Already, Indo-Pacific students account for 65%, nearly two-thirds of all International Students to Canada, thanks to the aggressive actions of the Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development program. Thousands of Indo-Pacific students choose to become Canadian Permanent Residents each year.

"The Indo-Pacific region is vital for Canada's Immigration and will continue to be in the future. Today's announcement brings significant new funding to help boost Canada's visa application processing capacity at home and abroad. As we look to record growth in admissions in the years ahead, this funding will help promote greater diversity among those looking to visit, study, work or live in Canada." – The Honourable Sean Fraser, Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship.
