Canada and Kenya Agree to Continued Collaboration on Immigration

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) plans to unveil a briefing on Canada’s available immigration programs.

In a bilateral meeting held on Thursday, May 18th, 2023, the Honourable Sean Fraser, Canada’s Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, and Dr. Alfred N. Mutua, Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, agreed to provide continued collaboration and information regarding pathways Kenyans may use to come to Canada.

Minister Sean Fraser recognizes the economic, social, and cultural benefits Kenyans bring when they choose to immigrate to Canada. This also includes the number of skilled refugees immigrating and continuing their professional careers in Canada following the success of the Economic Mobility Pathways Pilot. Both ministers discussed the existing temporary and permanent pathways to live, work, visit and study in Canada, including economic pathways like Canada’s Flagship Express Entry Program and the Temporary Foreign Work Program.

Minister Fraser and Cabinet Secretary Mutua agreed that IRCC officials will provide Kenyan officials with a comprehensive briefing on all of Canada’s available immigration programs. Kenyans interested in immigrating to Canada can also consult IRCC’s website to determine programs they may be eligible for.
